Video Sound Art presents the 13th edition of the festival, titled “Babel,” featuring an exhibition spread across two cities in Lombardy—Brescia and Milan.

This edition of the Festival is dedicated to the theme of language and its ambiguous nature: a screening program, installations, and performances make up a lineup developed in collaboration with international institutions. From studies of the letters of the world’s alphabets, conducted by the Dutch publishing group MacGuffin, to research on identity expressed through the language of video carried out at the CNAP—Centre national des arts plastiques in Paris.

In Brescia, the festival took place at three venues: the MO.CA—Center for New Cultures, located in the historic Baroque Martinengo Colleoni Palace in Malpaga; the Bunkervik—a former air-raid shelter from the 1940s; and the Nuovo Eden movie theater.

The Milan event continued in collaboration with the Historical Archives of the Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico: beneath a vaulted ceiling with lunettes, a constellation of micro-stories representing the ideal building blocks of that tragically impossible project—the construction of the Tower of Babel.
