Residencies
The residencies
Artist residencies in collaboration with museums, historical archives and cultural institutions. Artists are selected through an open call.
Artists, selected through an open call, have the chance to use the spaces and materials the host venue makes available in order to produce a new work. Through the residency they are accompanied by Video Sound Art’s curatorial, technical and communication team, and by outside collaborators — researchers, producers, craftspeople.
The residencies held so far have concentrated mainly on the working of materials — bronze, stucco, porcelain — and have counted on the participation of leading institutions: the Fonderia Artistica Battaglia, the restoration laboratory of the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia at Palazzo Abatellis in Palermo, and the Istituto Giovanni Caselli, the specialist ceramics and porcelain school housed in the Real Fabbrica di Capodimonte in Naples.
In recent years the focus has widened to other languages. In 2020 the Historical Archive of the Touring Club Italiano opened its holdings for the building of new narratives from the collection, while in 2022 the residency turned to a reflection on performance practice.
