Uriel Orlow

Zurich, Switerland, 1973

Uriel Orlow lives and works in Lisbon, London and Zurich. He studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, the University of Geneva, the Slade School of Art at University College London and UAL, obtaining a PhD in Fine Art in 2002. His artistic practice is research-based, process-oriented and often engages in dialogue with other disciplines and people. His projects explore the legacies of colonialism, the spatial manifestations of memory, social and ecological justice, the blind spots of representation, and plants as political actors. Through installations, photography, film, drawing, sound and gardens, his works interrelate different visual regimes and narrative modes. Uriel Orlow’s works have been featured in major retrospective exhibitions, including the 61st and 54th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibitions, the 12th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art, the Kathmandu Triennial, Manifesta 9 and 12 in Genk and Palermo, the 13th Sharjah Biennial, the 7th Moscow Biennial, EVA International in Limerick, the 2nd Aichi Triennial in Nagoya and the 1st Bergen Assembly, amongst others.
