L’ombra mia mi ha fatto paura (“My shadow frightened me”) is the title of the fabric sculpture overwritten with a calendar. A symbol of instability, the tent, which belongs to nomadic culture, is a kind of shelter. The work draws inspiration from the beach huts at Travemünde on the North Sea, described by Thomas Mann. The research of Letizia Cariello (LETIA) works to stitch back together connections and relations between materials and spaces. Her mark runs across everyday objects to rebuild perceptual echoes and to materialise time in a perceptible form. We can only see time in matter.
