Davide Zulli
Italy, 1993
Davide Zulli is an artist who lives and works in Antwerp. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and at Pxl-MAD in Hasselt (BE). His practice is based on the use of speculative narratives drawn from theory, fiction, cinema, and role-playing games as means of exploring the world. These narratives serve as an imaginative framework for addressing specific contemporary issues, such as climate change, the dichotomy between the artificial and the natural, and the state of neglect and abandonment of certain urban spaces. In his works, he combines natural and organic forms with industrial and artificial elements to create a layering of diverse symbols—both real and invented—that offer the viewer multiple interpretations and generate narratives that are unexpectedly familiar. In recent years, Zulli has participated in numerous exhibitions, including: “PANTA RHEI” (Geukens & De Vil Gallery, BE); “Impossible Enough to be an Art Space” (Lichtekooi, BE); “Spells & Promises” (Creative Factor Turnhout, BE). In 2022, he curated “Ravager of Time,” which utilized an old early 20th-century brewery as its exhibition space. The exhibition’s goal was to explore the theme of the “Unmonumental” through fantasy literature, horror, and role-playing games. He participated in and won the “galleries” and “poliart” categories of the 2024 Combat Art Prize.
