Women Geographies

Bibi Yamamoto’s complex installation, which explores the relationship between perception and memory through a variety of expressive media, presents a reimagined tribute to a Brazilian advertisement from the 1980s. Mixed-media prints and audio-video installations provide an introduction to her “domestic living,” featuring the new edition of bronze sculptures titled “Women Geographies,” produced by the Video Sound Art Festival and created in collaboration with the historic Fonderia Artistica Battaglia as part of the Open Studio project: female bodies without abdomens—primitive, explicit references to the prehistoric Venus of Savignano—are figures in thought, in a state of waiting.
