Ali Kazma
Istanbul, Turkey (1971)
Ali Kazma is a multimedia artist who lives and works between Istanbul and Paris. Kazma investigates the value of human activity across different spheres – economic, industrial, scientific, medical, social and artistic – bringing out aspects of reality that often remain hidden. He is particularly interested in socially significant spaces, places of production, industries and the ritual, repetitive actions of everyday life. Through his video series, the artist raises fundamental questions about the meaning of work and of human activity. Ali Kazma represented Turkey at the 55th Venice Biennale – Pavilion of Turkey in 2013. His solo exhibitions include Istanbul Modern, Istanbul (2025); Nouveau Musée National de Monaco, Monaco (2023); Ex Albergo Diurno Venezia, Milan (2018); Jeu de Paume, Paris (2017); CAPRI, Düsseldorf (2015); and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington (2010).
