Babel
Rania Stephan, The Three Disappearances of Soad Hosni, Digital Video, colour, 70′, 2011, Courtesy of the artist and Marfa’
VIDEO SOUND ART, presents the 13th edition of the festival entitled Babel, scheduled for next fall with an exhibition program spreading across three cities in Lombardy – Brescia, Bergamo and Milan. The festival focuses on the ambiguous nature of language: the exhibition will present installations and video works that reflect on the mother tongue, on language imposed and reinvented, on letters that open a reflection on the relationship between the word and the world. From investigations on the letters of the world’s alphabets by the Dutch publishing group MacGuffin to research on identity expressed through video language carried out at the CNAP – Centre national des arts plastiques in Paris.
