A Video Sound Art production in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano

“I meet you I remember you” is an interactive video installation created in collaboration with the virtual
prototyping laboratory of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Politecnico of Milan. The
olfactory displays are instruments programmed to give off smells. The laboratory of the Politecnico
is currently working on developing an application, created from Unity 3D software, that controls
the display of a virtual environment and activates the air cannons to give off smells. In visiting the
installation, the sensory stimuli and the position of the body invite the viewer to follow the discontinuous
and fluctuating flow of the memory in movement between the past and the present.
The videos screened are the result of a collage composed from a film selected from the Prelinger
Archive. Put together by Rick Prelinger, this is a collection of films on cultural and social life in North
America and includes propaganda films, educational films, amateur films and Home Movies. The video
selected belongs to the home movie category and was made in California in 1940.
The fragrances were created on request by Oikos Fragrances, a company specialized in designing
home fragrances and the technologies for their diffusion. Oikos has patented SFR technology (Solid
Fragrance Release) which allows using fragrances and odorous notes in the solid state. The fragrances
are diffused by simple ventilation with qualitative and functional results which are significantly better
than with the traditional processes of spraying, heating or evaporation of fragrances in a liquid phase.
