I was a nervous heat

The work is a spinal column divided into sections—33 vertebrae, 2 skulls. The artist continues her exploration of the relationship between humans and matter, and of actions and movements as a vehicle for cultural and geographical influences. The sections, created during the artist’s residency at Capodimonte based on clay models—on a scale slightly larger than that of the human body—extend across two distinct dimensions of space: one accessible, the other off-limits. The spine stretches out in a single straight line. Proximity and distance shape our perception of the skeleton.
The spine is the link between the earth and the mind, the physical support of the chambers of thought.
O.B.
The intervals, the voids, and the space between objects speak, as if they were casts of sacred buildings—central to the artist’s exploration in recent years.
