Had there been anyone to listen

Deep underground, beyond the reach of any human ear, subterranean and surface movements create majestic melodies. Using special microphones, Caterina Gobbi sampled these vibrations in the Mont Blanc area. The resulting collection of hypogeal voices was presented by the artist in a new sound performance reflecting on perception and on the relationship between human, machine and nature. During the performance the artist moves around wearing a copper structure connected to loudspeakers. As she walks, Gobbi plays the sounds sampled in the high mountains, using the structure as an extension of her body.
