Enrique Ramirez

Santiago de Cile, Chile, 1979

Enrique Ramirez has been living and working between Paris and Santiago de Chile since 2010. His work, which combines video, photography, sound and installation, explores memory, migration and the sea as a space for storytelling, where history and the present intertwine in a balance between poetry and politics. In 2014, he won the Discovery Prize from Les Amis du Palais de Tokyo, Paris, France. Since then, he has exhibited at a number of major venues, including the Palais de Tokyo, the Centre Pompidou, the Espace Culturel Louis Vuitton and ‘Les 104’ in France (as well as Le Grand Café in Saint-Nazaire), and in Central and South America (the Museo Amparo in Puebla, Mexico; the Museo de la Memoria in Santiago; the Centro Cultural MATTA; and the Chilean Embassy in Argentina, Buenos Aires). In 2017, he was invited to the 57th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Christine Macel. He was nominated for the Marcel-Duchamp Prize, the SAM Prize and the Meurice Prize for Contemporary Art. He won the Discover Prize from Les Amis du Palais de Tokyo and the Beyond Memory Prize for the video *Brises*.
