Never Ground

Milan, 28 – 30 November 2025

From November 28 to 30, 2025, Video Sound Art Festival returns with its 15th edition, titled Never Ground—a significant milestone marking fifteen years of activity in the production and promotion of contemporary art.

Once again, the Festival reaffirms its commitment to exploring the relationship between contemporary art and exhibition spaces outside traditional circuits, choosing a new venue in the city of Milan: the Magazzini Raccordati, located in the tunnels of Milano Centrale railway station.

This location is deeply connected to the theme of the 15th edition: the underground as both a physical space and a symbolic threshold—a metaphor for voices that have been silenced by power structures throughout history, a gateway to initiatory descents, and a site of metamorphosis.

The Festival takes its title from a new work by Natália Trejbalová, Never Ground, produced by Video Sound Art and realized thanks to the support of the Italian Council program, promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The work will become part of the collection of Museion (Bolzano).

Acting as a resonance chamber, the Festival amplifies and expands the theoretical implications of the work, articulating them through a range of thematic explorations. Recent scientific research shows how life can adapt to extreme conditions, pushing us to reconsider the very boundaries of existence. Subterranean ecosystems, resilient bacteria, life forms that defy our understanding: exploring the depths of the Earth also opens us up to the possibility of new biological models—perhaps even clues to other forms of life in the universe.

In dialogue with Natália Trejbalová, the Festival will also feature works by Adele Dipasquale, Nicoletta Grillo, and Andrea Mauti.
Further details on the exhibition route and the featured works will be announced soon.

Public Program

The Festival will also host a rich program of talks and presentations featuring the participation of artists, curators, scholars, professionals from the scientific community, speleologists, anthropologists, philosophers, and researchers.

Among the scheduled events is the presentation of the winning research project from the Open Call: TUNING FOR RELATIONSHIPS. Practices of Somatic Speleology by Sofia Salvatori, which explores the body’s perceptual potential in relation to subterranean environments through listening exercises and attunement with the depths of the earth.

The research was further developed during a residency held in August at Pollinaria, an organic farm and research center in Abruzzo, in collaboration with TAB | Take Away Bibliographies.
