Rania Stephan

Beirut, Lebanon, 1960

Rania Stephan graduated in Film Studies from La Trobe University, Australia, and from Université Paris VIII, France. She has directed numerous creative documentaries and short and medium-length videos. A fundamental aspect of her research, and consequently of her artistic practice, is her work with archival material. She has had solo exhibitions at MoMA PS1, New York (US); Alt Art Space, Istanbul (TR); Marfa’ Gallery, Beirut (LB); and Frieze Art Fair, London (GB), and group exhibitions at the Serpentine Gallery, London (GB); MAXXI, Rome (IT); Sharjah Biennial 10 (AE); Marian Goodman Gallery, Paris (FR); and Sadie Coles, London (GB), among others. She has also taken part in residency programmes at the Serpentine Gallery, London (GB); IASPIS, Stockholm (SE); Fondation Camargo, Cassis (FR); and IMéRA–MuCEM, Marseille (FR). Her works are represented by the Marfa’ gallery in Beirut, Lebanon.
