Spoken Panorama

2026

Cem A., Spoken Panorama, 2026 — performance
Spoken Panorama is both a performance and an installation. The work transforms the festival’s talks into visual maps. During the 16th edition of the Festival, Cem A. records the talks from the public programme and uses language analysis software to generate a map for each event. The system identifies connections between words and meanings, revealing linguistic and semantic affinities that might otherwise be overlooked in the flow of conversation. The maps thus create a semantic space in which the distance between elements corresponds to their proximity in meaning, organising expressions into thematic clusters. On the final day of the festival, the artist, together with anthropologists Rita Duina and Tommaso Santagostino, presents a reflection on the maps generated and the discussions that emerged during the event. The project thus brings to light the relationships that underpin collective conversations, offering a new perspective on the themes addressed and the meanings that are constructed through dialogue.
