Alice Jarry, Lighthouses, 2015 — site-specific kinetic installation with dichroic glass, mirrors, broken glass, stepper motors, LEDs, sensors

Lighthouses is a site-specific installation created in collaboration with Vincent Evrard and developed in relation to the features of the exhibition space. The project explores the potential of light and sound to generate unstable, transient forms. Set on a floor of broken glass, 20 kinetic modules rotate 150 squares of dichroic glass and mirrors. From their starting position, the glass squares strike the floor, chip, and shift heaps of broken glass. This process leaves ephemeral material traces on the ground and gives rise to unexpected sound patterns, amplified by the resonance of the space.
