Daniel Rossa
Daniel Rossa is an art director who lives between Berlin and Bremen. His art grows out of a need for interdisciplinary experiment and rests on a solid point of view on aesthetic perception in art. Creating connections between the digital world and pre-existing reality is a strong theme in his installations, which develop by letting virtual and actual reality coexist in a fusion of senses and physics.
Rossa moves from a range of analogue techniques, graphic design and moving images to projections and the lighting design of sculptures that move through space. He thinks of his installations as temporary realities within an urban area – a perceptual analogy achieved by cutting out and reworking a natural phenomenon through artificial constructions. Each installation develops from pre-existing structures and from an architectural approach to the surrounding space.
Alongside his personal projects, since 2007 Rossa has worked with URBANSCREEN, creating site-specific architectural projections in commercial and cultural contexts. His work has been awarded by the Cannes Design Lions, the Art Directors Club Germany, the Art Directors Club Europe and the German Lighting Design Award. His installations have also been shown at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Bauhaus Dessau, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, the Goethe Theater Bremen and the International Dance Days Münster.
