Through a site specific practice, her digital art installations investigate the question of assemblages and the impact of materiality in the generation of dynamic forms, accidental and fleeting. Her work was recently presented at Device_Art Triennal (Zagreb), Invisible Dog Art Center (New York), Le Man\u00e8ge de Sury as part of Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture (Mons, Be) the Second International Digital Arts Biennial (BIAN, Montreal), La gare num\u00e9rique (France), as part of the LASER series (Leonardo Journal) and in several exhibition locations in Canada, the United States and Europe. Lives and works in Milan.\u00a0Bibi Yamamoto explores the relation between mind and matter, combining psycho-physical concepts and multi-media installations inspired by ordinary, everyday life. Titles like Wet Pink, Salty Yellow and A Hard Cock full of Hope are a synesthetic \u00a0provocation to the erotic memory of the viewer &#8211; \u201ceverything is happening in your head, nothing is really there\u201d says Bibi. Bibi expresses an interest in the juxtaposition of figuration and abstraction in video, analog photography, oil painting, clay sculptures, found objects and its aspects of intimacy and identity. They, as well as the bodies now inanimate, are transformed into sculptures, intangible skin and metaphor of a desire that cannot be fulfilled. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in 2007, and completed her education with workshops held by Jimmie Durham (Fondazione Ratti), Rirkrit Tiravanija (Domus Academy) and Liliana Moro (Fondazione Spinola Banna). In 2009 she was an artist in residence in Paris at the Dena Foundation for Contemporary Art, while in 2013 she took part in the BAR residence programme in Barcelona. Among her recent solo shows, we might mention \u2018Serpenti nelle grondaie\u2019 (GAFF, Milan), \u2018U.\u2019 (Fonderia Artistica Battaglia; Milan) and \u2018Samus Viridis X-9\u2019 (Espacio Sant Pere, Barcelona).
