At the heart of the collective’s research is an investigation into perception, in particular the themes of synesthesia and the symbiotic relationship between images and sound. The collective’s works explore the perceptual deception caused by optical illusions and the construction of immersive virtual realities.
According to the principles of the Otolab manifesto, similar to those of hacker and DIY ethics, the projects are developed through laboratory and workshop work based on mutual confrontation, support, free circulation of knowledge and experimentation. The collective produces audiovisual performances, sound recordings, audiovisuals, video installations, self-made instruments and hardware prototypes. Since 2005 Otolab has been teaching in universities and art academies including NABA, Politecnico di Milano, Istituto Europeo di Design, C.F.P. Bauer, Accademia di Brera and in self-produced workshops.

Zeitguised

Since 2001, Zeitguised has been the strange, obscure twin of contemporary zeitgeist imagineering.
The work of Zeitguised has been featured in galleries, exhibitions, publications and screenings around the world.
